Maharashtra Ratna Puraskar and Karamveer Puraskar winner, emphasizes the need for equal education opportunities.

New Delhi (India), April 1: It’s been a decade Dr Vandana Bhardwaj has been working with children especially supporting them in education. It has been extremely hard to nurture the children and provide them with what they deserve, even though they have a lot of potentials. I have been trying hard to break the barrier. What I truly and strongly believe is that Equal access to a high-quality education should be the priority of the nation. There is a huge educational gap between less privileged and privileged children.
We all know that the ratio of less privileged children is extremely high, and creating skilled jobs for them wouldn’t raise their standard of living. Unfortunately, the issue of standardized education is never questioned as they don’t come under the vote bank.

Multiple languages are one of the barriers students find hard to cope with. Students from regional schools or Hindi schools find it hard to even clear 12th as after the 10th, all subjects are purely in English. Their merits hold no value or very less value. Suddenly they come into the category of illiteracy. Uniformity in language should be considered from 1st standard itself. Only then their regularity in schools will make sense. I see many students lose everything and have no confidence to study further because of the change in language. Getting a white-collar job is next to impossible.
Dr.Vandana believes in solutions.

She believes Govt. should aim to equalize educational opportunities and achievements, which shouldn’t be based on the financial and/or socioeconomic background of students. Regional schools and private schools should follow one language in maths, science, history, civics and geography.
Privileged families should support less privileged children by mentoring them in education. Children should be enrolled in English medium schools only. Less privileged families can still manage basic needs, but educational expenses are hard to manage.
