Entrepreneur Gauravv Saxena believes that success is not defined by where a person begins, but by the mindset they develop along the way. Reflecting on his journey from earning ₹10 a day at the age of 14 to taking on leadership roles and working with global brands, Gauravv spoke about the beliefs, risks and lessons that shaped him.
Asked what he had to unlearn to become the person he is today, Gauravv said, “I had to unlearn the belief that your starting point defines your ceiling. When you start working at 14 earning just ₹10 a day, survival instills a scarcity mindset, the fear that you must simply take whatever life hands you. Unlearning that meant realizing that humble beginnings do not limit your vision; they build the resilience required to scale the highest peaks.”
He also revealed that choosing his own path over conventional expectations has been a recurring part of his journey. “Constantly. Expectation usually asks you to stay inside safe, conventional boundaries. Choosing what was right for me meant taking bold, calculated leaps, stepping far outside comfort zones, embracing international leadership, and navigating high-stakes corporate environments. Betting on my own potential always proved more rewarding than settling for what was predictable,” he shared.
Looking back, he considers taking on challenging professional responsibilities in foreign markets to be one of the decisions that changed his life. “Taking on massive, uncharted professional responsibilities in foreign markets when everything felt uncertain. At the time, diving headfirst into complex operational challenges looked like an unnecessary risk where failure was a real possibility. In hindsight, stepping directly into that fire was the exact turning point that propelled my career to the executive level,” Saxena said.
For Gauravv, success does not necessarily transform a person's character; rather, it amplifies what is already within them. “Success is an amplifier; it simply reveals who you are once survival is no longer an issue. Moving from ₹10 daily wages to heading country operations and working with iconic global brands like Louis Vuitton doesn't rewrite your character. If your foundation is built on grit, integrity, and humility, success only magnifies your ability to lead with empathy,” he explained.

He further shared that external validation is no longer something he feels compelled to pursue. “External validation. Early in life, the hunger to prove your worth to the world is strong. Today, genuine peace of mind, time freedom, and purposeful work matter far more than chasing hollow trophies or status symbols meant only to impress others,” Saxena said.
On the importance of patience in an era obsessed with instant results, Gauravv emphasised the power of consistency and long-term effort. “People underestimate the quiet power of compounding. Mastery and true transformation cannot be microwaved; they are built brick by brick over decades. Looking back at where I started compared to leading organizations today, the journey often feels like a dream, but it was made possible entirely by relentless, daily patience,” he concluded.
