Born and brought up in Siliguri, Darjeeling, Subir’s educational journey began at Don Bosco, Siliguri, and later at the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology, and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, from 1997 to 2000. He also holds a Master’s degree from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Business English Certification as a qualified faculty from the University of Cambridge.
Subir’s career in the hospitality industry began in 2000, with prestigious establishments like JW Marriott in Goa and Mumbai, followed by Hyatt Regency. He later served as a senior faculty member at IIAS and IIHM. After eight years in hospitality, Subir transitioned into the financial sector, taking on pivotal roles at Max New York Life as Branch Training Manager and at AEGON Religare, a Times of India Group Company, where he rose to the position of Zonal Training Head for East and North India. In these roles, he conducted extensive training programs in sales, process, skill development, management development, and product launches.
A true Aquarian, Subir is driven by innate curiosity and unconventional thinking, epitomized by his guiding philosophy: “Innovation isn’t about reinventing the wheel but reshaping the journey.” This ethos has steered Subir toward transformative change, blending his wealth of experience with a passion for innovation and leadership.
In 2014, Subir’s career took a significant turn when he partnered with Mr. Shiv Shankar Sahi and Ms. Moumita Majumder to establish a branch of Progressive in Kolkata. Initially focusing on certification sales, the business rapidly expanded, offering over 30 services and achieving significant financial success. Following Mr. Sahi’s resignation in 2018, Subir and Moumita transitioned Progressive into Progressive Innovators Pvt. Ltd. in 2022, solidifying its status as a leading consultancy.
